Most Expensive Cars In The World: Top 10 List 2010-2011

World's Most Expensive Cars

What is the most expensive car in the world? The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8,700,000 in 1987. However, that car and many alike will not be included in this list because it is not available on the market today. It is hard to imagine someone would actually spend 8 million dollars on a car instead of using it for something more productive. However, if you have the money and the opportunity, you will definitely spend a small fraction of it to place a few of these supercars in your garage. Here are the 10 most expensive production cars on the market.

1. Bugatti Veyron $1,700,000. This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It claims to be the fastest car with a top speed of 253 mph+. However, the title for the fastest car goes to the SSC Ultimate Aero which exceed 253 mph pushing this car to 2nd place for the fastest car.

2. Lamborghini Reventon $1,600,000. The most powerful and the most expensive Lamborghini ever built is the second on the list. It takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Its rarity (limited to 20) and slick design are the reasons why it is so expensive and costly to own.

3. McLaren F1 $970,000. In 1994, the McLaren F1 was the fastest and most expensive car. Even though it was built 15 years ago, it has an unbelievable  top speed of 240 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Even as of today, the McLaren F1 is still top on the list and it outperformed many other supercars.

Don't let the price tag fool you, the 6th most expensive car is actually the fastest street legal car in the world with a top speed of 257 mph+ and reaching 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. This baby cost nearly half as much as the Bugatti Veyron, yet has enough power to top the most expensive car in a speed race. It is estimated that only 25 of this exact model will ever be produced.

7. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo $555,000. The first true American production certified supercar, this cowboy is also rank 3rd for the fastest car in the world. It has a top speed of 248 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. If you are a true American patriot, you can be proud to show off this car.

Destiney Morris, a 17-year-old senior at Englewood Community Academy High School Wins $1,000 in Black History Month Essay Contest | NBC Chicago

Teen Wins $1,000 in Black History Month Essay Contest

Teen Wins $1,000 in Black History Month Essay Contest

An Englewood student’s vision of what she would do if she were the mayor has paid off in a big way.

Destiney Morris, a 17-year-old senior at Englewood Community Academy High School, is the winner of the 2011 Black History Month Scholarship Essay Contest.

Chicago City Treasurer Stephanie Neely surprised Morris with a giant check for $1,000 in front of her mother, classmates, teachers and Principal Peggy Korellis-Byrd.

Morris said she has already been accepted at the University of Illinois Chicago, and the scholarship money will go directly to the school.

The scholarship contest was based on this question: "As the new mayor of Chicago, what are your economic and neighborhood development goals for your administration specifically in the African-American communities?”

In her essay Morris wrote that she wants to be able to walk down the street "without feeling as if I needed to dodge a bullet."

She writes that fountains and green spaces, churches, and businesses that hire residents are all part of the solution. Morris also writes that the single word that best describes a mayor’s obligation is "responsibility"… "to make sure your city is happy and prospering."

Morris' full essay:

As mayor of the city I would call upon the expertise of the Aldermen who are more familiar with the neighborhoods they serve and work with them to determine the best route to take.  I would concentrate on bringing business and jobs to those areas in the city that people often say are hopeless and beyond repair.  I would set up town hall meetings to determine what the citizens want and then go about planning to develop some of their ideas.   I think it is important to include the ideas of those that live in the neighborhood.  My ideas would be to bring both large and small businesses, some chain restaurants, land development for the properties that make up eyesores now; i.e. abandoned properties that have become dope houses.  I would also like to see facilities that house programs that promote training and exposure for high school students from freshmen through senior year.  I would like to see churches open their doors to students in the afternoon because everyone is not an athlete and those that are sometime get lost because they don’t have anything to do.  Our schools have forgotten that students need the arts and everyone cannot participate in the After School Matters program because there isn’t enough space.

There are a few things I would like to see happen with regard to neighborhood development.  I am aware that there are five Save-A-Lot stores being built in the city and one of them is in my neighborhood.    I would work with large companies like Big Lots and Wal Mart to build stores in the city limits. This would bring jobs to the communities.  While big companies require management level positions they would also need stock people, cashiers and customer service staff.  These jobs would help both the adults and the students find employment close to home.  For the adults that have degrees they would have the opportunity to apply for the mid-management positions and possibly have the option of making more money.  I am convinced that if the people in my neighborhood had jobs making at least minimum wage they would be able to live better and provide for their families. Working parents in the neighborhood are then closer to their children during the day.  I don’t live in Roseland, I live in Englewood however, and I have heard the stories about how south Michigan Avenue was busy and bustling with businesses including a theatre.  I would like to see a theatre in my neighborhood.  It would be another venue to provide jobs for adults and students.  I would negotiate with the owners and builders to possible create an after school internship program for high school students in the area to work toward managing the food areas and doing more than just collecting tickets.  I think they should include a program where the students create advertisements for special events, develop plans for family nights at the movies where a family of four gets a discount rate on tickets and refreshments.  The working experience should include training that will help a student to be better prepared for the next level whether that is to continue to work after high school or attend college.  These skills will be beneficial to the student no matter what they decide to do after high school.  I think it should offer educational screenings for both elementary schools and high schools during the day so that teachers could take advantage of educational films for history and the social studies.

When I think of neighborhood development I think of playgrounds, slides and swings.  I see green areas with benches and a fountain that create an atmosphere of calm.  I would like to see more spaces made available to children and their parents for recreational activities.  I would like to be able to walk down the street without feeling as if I needed to dodge a bullet.  I think if free activities were available for students of all ages after school, close to home it would help to decrease the violence.  I think my peers get into trouble because they have nothing to do.  The park district should have more facilities maybe smaller ones in every neighborhood to accommodate students so that they don’t have to travel far from home to participate in supervised activities.  This could also be used as a job training site for young men and women who are interested in pursuing careers in athletic training, education, sports medicine and or have an interest in tutoring or just being a part of something.  These programs would help to create a sense of community for both the young and the old.  When programs are available for residents in the neighborhood they help to change the attitude of the residents.  If I know that Mr. Robinson is the coach for the softball team at the park, he lives next door I played on the team; I would be more inclined to tell if I saw some one trying to break in his house or I might call the police.  I think we need to rebuild the neighborhood to bring back the sense of community. With a better sense of community we would all be better off.  If I have a job and you have a job then we both have something to protect and preserve.  However, if I never see anyone go to work I don’t know what going to work looks like and I may not realize how important that is or how it reflects on my attendance at school.

Leadership, dedication, triumph, and inspiration, are some of the words that come with the title of being mayor of Chicago, but there is a word that describes the role of a mayor to the last single note. That is responsibility, being mayor is far more than just shaking hands, fixing a few pot holes, and claiming the title.  It requires effort and time in order to make sure that your city is happy and prospering from the job that you have done.

The Game' Actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict on What it Means to Support Your Man

By Bridget Bland on Jan 11th 2011 10:25AM
From BVonlove.com

For Tia Mowry-Hardrict, the balance of being a career woman and a loving wife is the ultimate dream. And, these days, at 32, she's living it in real life, but not necessarily on-screen.

The 'Sister, Sister' star, who just announced she is pregnant, is back on television in 'The Game,' which was canceled two years ago by the CW but has been resurrected and given new life with a fourth season on BET.

In real life, she's happily married to actor Cory Hardrict, but on the dramedy her relationship with Derwin (played by Pooch Hall) has had its fair share of ups and downs – and continues to be a struggle despite their love and devotion to each other.

"Melanie and Derwin are the same, but they are very different," she told BlackVoices.com. "Derwin is a star now. Before, he was a rookie and trying to get his name know,n and now he is a superstar and Melanie is the wife of a superstar football player."

Her character, who was previously career-focused and set on becoming a doctor, is now the glamorous wife. It's a love story Mowry believes is similar to NBA power couple Kobe and Vanessa Bryant.
"When you first saw Vanessa and she was engaged, she was just this girl from high school. She wasn't in designer clothing, she was just this natural, pretty girl," she explained. "Now, when you see Vanessa, she's decked out, and she's the wife of a pro-NBA basketball player. Now (on the show), Melanie is always looking fly."
The NAACP Image Award winner continued, "Melanie is like, 'I have to be there for my man and I'm putting my studies on the back burner,' and that's one thing that I love about 'The Game.' Many women do that and lose themselves a little bit to become mothers and to become great wives."

"She loves this man so much. Her love grows so much for Derwin. You will see a lot of their love this year. They love each other. You see that bond. I don't want her to lose herself completely, [but] I'm pretty sure there is going to be a twist. Something is going bite Melanie in the butt," she revealed.

Yet, in real life, the German-born beauty, whose pregnancy will be documented in a Style Network reality show with twin sister, Tamera, says that her goal is to continue striving for the best in her career and also being a devoted wife.

"I think that women should have a great balance in life. I think that we should be able to focus on our careers and also be able to be a good wife and be a good mother. I think we can do both. There are many women out there who believe that," she said.

She added, "I want to be able to have it all. I want to say 'I'm a mother and a wife' and I want to be a businesswoman as well."

Mowry is letting it be known that just because she is a working woman doesn't mean she isn't throwing all of her love and support behind her real-life actor husband, just like her character Melanie.
"My husband has a movie coming out called 'Battle Los Angeles.' It's the biggest movie he's ever been in and he is a lead," she exclaimed. "Here I am, I am going to be supporting him with his career. "

And we're sure he will be right there cheering her on, too.

'The Game' airs on BET Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST.

Halle Berry raises major eyebrows for her beautiful sensuality lensed by Ruven Afanador and styled by Deborah Waknin for the March 2011 issue of Ebony Magazine. The actress talks about her custody battle with Gabriel Aubry over daughter Nahla, which is mired down in very series arguments over Nahla’s racial identity.

Halle Berry says in her Ebony interview that Hahla is black because of the one-drop rule. I daresay we’re all black under that rule. Marcia Dawkins writes for Huff Po Halle Berry and Nahla: Not So Mixed, Not So Happy.

I Can't Stand My Best Friend's Significant Other

From BVonlove.com

By Patrice J. Williams

She's your sister friend. He's your roll dog. Your kindred spirit. You've shared tabloid-worthy secrets, celebrated successes and you offer motivation when life gets tough. You love your best friend and would inevitably do anything to protect him or her. But what do you do when you can't stand the person they're dating?
She's trifling, he treats her badly or maybe you just get a bad vibe. Whatever the reason, you just don't like the new significant other and think your friend must be suffering from temporary insanity to put up with this person's mess. Instead of making your friend choose between the two or creating an even more awkward situation, here are four ways to make peace and keep your friendship intact.

1. Get to the root of the problem.
First, you need to ask yourself why you have so much disdain for him or her. If she's wronged your boy in the past, you natural instinct is to keep him from being hurt again. But if your friend can forgive his lady, then you need to let it go, too. Of course, that's easier said than done. And sometimes people just rub you the wrong way, but is it something deeper?
Maybe your BFF's BF reminds you of someone from your own past or, let's be honest, could it be jealousy? Of course you love your girl and it's natural to feel a slight tinge of envy when a new person comes into the picture. Sometimes understanding the why behind your dislike can make the situation easier.
2. Don't trash-talk the relationship.
Of course you want to be honest with your friend, but that doesn't mean you should constantly discuss your disdain for their partner. She gets it. You don't like him, but no need to remind her of it every day. Constantly downing a friends relationship will just put a strain on the friendship. And, if need be, politely ask your friend to keep from venting to you about him. She's your girl so you'll always offer a shoulder to cry on, but if she runs down every wrong that he commits, you'll just add it to your checklist of reasons to dislike ol' boy even more.
3. Don't avoid your friend in order to avoid his/her significant other.
It can be tempting to avoid any situation when you have to see the person you highly dislike, but you don't want to alienate your friend. Instead of canceling dinner plans because you know she'll be there, go anyway. Distancing yourself from him, because of her, is a no-no. Your boy shouldn't be punished because of his relationship choices. If it feels too awkward being the third wheel, hang out in a larger group.
4. Be polite.
When you absolutely have to interact with your girl's guy, remain respectful. You may think he doesn't see you rolling your eyes or hear your snide remarks, but he surely does. Maybe he doesn't say anything to you, but your friend will certainly hear about it. Your girl would never put up with her guy disrespecting you, so don't disrespect him either. You don't have to play phony, but fix your face and keep the words cordial.
Disliking your friend's guy or gal can be a nuisance, but it doesn't have to affect your friendship. Regardless of who's in their life, just let them know you love them no matter what and you'll be fine. Besides, hindsight is 20/20 - if and when they break up, your friend will be most appreciative of the person who stuck by their side the most - judgment-free.

Is There Room For Plus Sized Lingerie Models?

Is There Room For Plus Sized Lingerie Models?

THE STRUGGLE TO BE SKINNY In this superficial world of anorexic women models setting ‘the standard’ for how women should look, is there room for healthy full-figured women to attract their husbands and let other women know that a natural body is beautiful? -

There are women who are not obese and yet they do not qualify to be models as they are still not thin enough. Society, the media and many fashion companies put pressure on women to be as thin as possible and this is not right. Fuller women can still look very sexy and attractive in plus size lingerie and they should be proud of how they look when wearing lingerie
The sad thing is that this type of pressure can cause women to do weird things to their bodies such develop anorexic and bulimic behavior. Some women have done irreparable damage to their
bodies in attempt to look as thin as possible. Friends have encouraged these women and family members gain weight, as they look unhealthily thin.
Some people are overweight for reasons other than overeating and the converse applies as well, some people are very thin but not due to the fact that they eat too little. Some women have incredibly quick metabolisms and they are able to eat what they like and they will still be very thin. Fuller women should not feel that they have to look like these thinner women just to be sexy in plus sized lingerie
There are dangers associated with being too thin and women need to be aware of this. Being too thin can bring about a host of other problems with it. Women can experience menstrual irregularities when they are below normal weight. Another symptom of this is anemia or signs of vitamin deficiency. People who are vitamin deficient are usually malnourished and this is often as a
result of being below normal weight.
Women who are very thin will have bones protruding and palpable through their skin and apart from being unhealthy it does not look good at all. Body weight that is less than 15 percent of ideal weight is far too thin. These are some of the dangers that are associated with trying to be too thin.

Magazines are full of stories about people who are trying to lose weight and many of them are public figures. Many experts believe that the underweight problem is equally problematic as the
obesity problem. Apparently close to 50 million Americans are underweight and 5 percent of all deaths in the country are related to being underweight. As many as 17% of the population is more
than twenty five percent underweight. One wonders how these figures would be different if there was not so much pressure on young women to be thin just so that they can wear Lingerie
